Artist Bio – Howard “Kingfish” Franklin, Jr.

Howard Franklin, Jr; Drummer, Musician, Bandleader and owner of Howard Franklin Music was born and raised in the DC Metro area brings you music for the soul. He is a professional drummer, musician, and bandleader given the nickname “Kingfish” by his late great mentor, Calvin Jones and even “Fishstix” by the late Jazz Great Shirley Horn’s drummer Steve Williams, the overall remains the same. “Kingfish” is a serious, dedicated full time musician. Franklin has performed with many prominent artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Jackie McLean, Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Slide Hampton, Fred Wesley, Robin Eubanks, Delfeayo Marsalis. He has also had the pleasure of working with Bruce Williams, Mark Gross, Sherman Irby, Calvin Jones, Jeremy Pelt, Paul Carr, Lawrence Wheatley, Vincent Gardner, James Williams, David Kikoski, Reuben Brown, Curtis Lundy, Steve Turre, Russell Gunn, Tim Warfield, Case, CeCe Peniston, Gregory Tardy, JD Allen, Duane Eubanks, Wycliffe Gordon, Nneena Freelon, Brian McKnight, Eddie Henderson, Dawn Robinson (Envogue/Lucy Pearl) and a host of many other bands and artists.
