Artist Bio – Heidi Martin
Martin was hand-picked to compete in the London International Jazz Vocal Competition (LIJC), where she placed as a top finalist among some 107 competitors from over 25 nations.
A passionate songstress who, while in college, performed under the direction of Oscar Brown Jr. in his staged musical play “Four Women”. This Washington D.C. Native began her vocal studies under the direction of Calvin Jones and Grady Tate. She performs Internationally in Europe and North Africa: Pori Jazz Festival & Kenzi Hotel opening & Live Jazz at L’hotel Dawhiz both in Casablanca, Morocco. Home on the east coast she has performed at New York’s: Blue Note, Small’s Jazz Club, Zinc Bar & Metronome, in D.C. at Bohemian Caverns, Blues Alley, Twins Lounge, 18th Street Lounge. A featured recurring artist at DCJazzfest, & BlackArtsfest in Atalanta, GA. A sought after collaborator, Martin has composed, performed & recorded with Nicholas Payton, Russell Gunn, Eric Revis, Orrin Evans, Gregoire Maret, Kris Funn, Josh Evans, Donvonte McCoy, Steve Williams, Michael Bowie, Herbert Scott, Colin Chambers, John Lee to name a few.
